“It’s hunting not fishing”
This is the introduction from Phippsy as we started on a fishing trip on the Noosa river. A good move as their was a swell running on the open sea, would have been a rough trip. Instead we, my father-in-law, his mate, and I, spent a very pleasant morning fishinghunting for flathead and anything else that would come our way.
Firstly, we would be using “plastics”, these you attach to a conventional hook and weight setup, and then cast as usual. On the retrieve you try to make the “plastic” look like a dying fish. The flathead strike when the “plastic” drops towards the bottom. Great fun was had by all, it took a while to learn this technique but Phippsy had all the knowledge and willingness to help to ensure everyone was getting bites and catching fish.
The kit supplied was excellent, and I caught fish of a size that I would not usually catch using conventional baits. One of our group caught a fish of 76cm, see below:-
Apparently, the best Phippsy has seen in 3 years.
